JAKARTA, May 4 Asia pulse - The upcoming Indonesia International Communication Expo & Conference (ICC) 2011 is projected to generate transactions worth up to Rp600 billion (US$70.2 million), a spokesman said.
The exhibition is connected to the Indonesian Computer Festival 2011 which will be held on June 8-12, 2011, said Bambang Setiawan, general manager of IT Division Dyandra Promosindo, on Tuesday.
"Around 250 thousand people are expected to visit this exhibition," Setiawan said, adding that the event will take place in the Jakarta Convention Center.
According to him, the rapid growth of ICT industry (Information Communication Technology) in Indonesia has become the reason to implement this exhibition.
Citing an example, Bambang said that the number of celluler phone subscribers as of December 31, 2010, shows a progressive increase, reaching 240 million subscribers.
In addition, the number of Internet users is expected to reach 45 million people, representing 20 per cent of Indonesia`s total population.
The social media networking also increased dramatically, allowing people to connect for 24 hours.
